WHO WE ARE

Since 1897, CMA Church has been serving the same neighborhood in Greenville, Ohio. Though our buildings have changed and times are different, our passion to serve our neighbors is still resolute, and God's mission is still our own. For us, the mission of God is clear: all of Jesus to all people in all neighborhoods. This is why we consider ourselves a neighborhood church. Now, when we say neighborhoods, we are specifically referring to: 1) where our church is located, 2) where we live and work and socialize, 3) where unreached people reside (neighbors not yet apart of God's family).

When Jesus first gave the Great Commission to His disciples, He was inviting them to join Him in continuing the work He had started. As Christians today, Jesus continues to invite us in joining Him in accomplishing the Father's mission to make disciples of all people everywhere. Our discipleship journey begins once we are reconciled to the Father through Jesus Christ. Then the Holy Spirit empowers us to live as a disciple by filling us, equipping us, and transforming us. The Father wants this for all people who would come to Him in faith. So, as disciples of Jesus and as a church family, we go together to make disciples of all neighborhoods.

THE VALUES OF OUR CHURCH FAMILY

Belonging

"Then God said, 'Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.' ... So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them," Genesis 1:26-27.

We value Belonging because everyone is made in the image and likeness of God. Every person has been made with value, beauty, purpose, and giftedness. Even more, every person has been given a God-given identity that needs to be awakened and realized, so that they are able to fully live as they were created to live. At CMA Church, we strive hard to help individuals connect to a church family who cares about their well-being and reconnect to a God who desires a relationship with those He has made in His image.

Diversity

"For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another," Romans 12:4-5.

We value Diversity because everyone's uniqueness is needed to fulfill God's mission. Our uniqueness is found in our age, gender, ethnicity, nationality, story, experiences, and giftedness. Though we are diverse in our gifting and likeness, we are united in our calling and position in Jesus. At CMA Church, we highly value intergenerational ministry, such as in discipleship groups and studies, and we strive to equip individuals within our church to discern their spiritual gifts and God’s call upon their life.

Abiding

"I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in Me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing," John 15:5.

We value Abiding because we are convinced that apart from Jesus we have nothing. We abide in Jesus in order to remain, produce and commit whatever is needed for the sake of Him and His Kingdom. As we abide in Jesus, the Spirit grows in us the fruit of discipleship: we love God, we trust God, we obey God, we love one another, and we serve God’s mission. At CMA Church, we demonstrate and teach others how to abide in Jesus through our discipleship, our worship, our ministries, and our service to those around us.

Together

"In Him you also are being built together into a dwelling place of God in the Spirit," Ephesians 2:22.

We value Together because the Spirit calls us to live out our faith as a family. No one person can fulfill our vision by themselves; we need everyone, and everyone needs one another. The Spirit is uniquely building us and equipping us and leading us forward together. As we respond in unity, the Kingdom of God is experienced and extended in our neighborhoods. At CMA Church, we are intentionally committed to sharing our life and faith with one another beyond Sunday mornings, because we view our church as a family.

Reaching

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth," Acts 1:8.

We value Reaching because the mission is clear: all of Jesus to all people in all neighborhoods. We reach out to others because God brought someone to reach in to our lives. Compelled by Jesus' love and empowered by His Spirit, we go as we are sent into the neighborhoods we reside, proclaiming and demonstrating the Kingdom of God. At CMA Church, we are passionate about seeing our local and global neighbors encounter Jesus and seeing their lives made whole.

OUR VISION: Joining Jesus in bringing His wholeness to our neighborhoods

While our core values shape who we are as a local church, our vision shapes what we do as a local church. When Jesus went about through Judea, Samaria, and the surrounding cities, He preached about the Kingdom of God and demonstrated the Kingdom of God by healing various diseases and conditions (Matthew 9:35-38). As Jesus healed people, He didn't just bring physical healing; with each person Jesus brought wholeness into the lives of those He touched. For example, in healing a leper, Jesus restored the person's body, their relationships with others, their place in society, and even more their value as a person.

As a church, we passionately want to see God's Kingdom demonstrated; we want to see His Kingdom come and His will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. We desire to see people receive new life in Jesus and them experience His wholeness abundantly. Wholeness is another way of saying mature and complete, and this is what we want for our family and neighbors, because this is what God wants for all of us. And God's method for bringing His wholeness to people is through His Church, who is empowered by His Spirit (Ephesians 4:11-16, Colossians 1:28-29). So we go forth, joining Jesus in bringing His wholeness to our neighborhoods (John 20:21-22).
